Aaron Judge’s personal hitting coach, Richard Schenck, recently took to social media to express his strong criticisms of the New York Yankees.
On Thursday, Schenck shared a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), condemning the team’s player development on offense, labeling it as “terrible.”
His comments came in response to Judge’s remarkable performance during a difficult stretch for the Yankees, who have lost 13 of their last 18 games.

During this 18-game span, Judge has been exceptional, boasting a .367 batting average and hitting seven home runs.
Despite his efforts, the Yankees have struggled, particularly with their pitching, and the rest of the offense has not been able to keep pace with Judge’s production.
Schenck has been working with Judge since his rookie season, and their relationship is notably close. While Schenck is not officially employed by the Yankees, Judge has repeatedly praised him as a “career-changer” and credited him with significantly contributing to his development into one of the league’s premier hitters.
The Yankees’ issues cannot be solely attributed to their player development.
Many of the team’s underperforming hitters were developed by other organizations, with Anthony Volpe being the only regular player who was entirely developed within the Yankees’ farm system.
Additionally, the team’s struggles are not limited to their offense; their pitching has also been inconsistent, contributing to their overall performance woes.
Despite these broader issues, Schenck’s public criticism is likely to be unwelcome by Yankees officials. His comments underscore the frustrations surrounding the team’s recent performance and raise questions about the effectiveness of their developmental strategies.
Given Judge’s influence and Schenck’s role in his career, such pointed remarks from a close confidant could add to the mounting pressure on the organization to address and rectify these ongoing issues.
