Another win for Vanessa Bryant.
The lawsuit involving one of Kobe Bryant’s most lucrative investments ended in Vanessa Bryant’s favor and revealed some disturbing racist comments.
In 2013, Kobe invested $6 million in BodyArmor, a sports drink company, that was later sold to Coca-Cola for $5.6 billion, earning him $400 million.
Prior to his untimely death, Molly Carter, president of Kobe Inc., claimed Kobe promised her 2% of his cut, which he denied.
Vanessa took over and not only defended the case but also filed a counterclaim against Molly, accusing her of breaching her employment contract by making derogatory comments about Kobe and his family.
Vanessa revealed that Molly referred to Kobe as an “asshole,” “douche nugget,” and “dick wad,” while calling her the “f***ing devil,” “bitch,” and “PSYCHO.”
Vanessa also alleged that Molly made racist remarks during an NBA All-Star game, commenting on “fancy-ass Black people” on the plane.
The case was settled in arbitration, with Vanessa prevailing and awarded over $1.5 million in attorney’s fees.
Kobe’s legal team has filed papers for an Orange County Superior Court judge to uphold the arbitration award.
