Kylie and Jason Kelce share a loving and playful bond, but when it comes to nicknames, Kylie has a few rules. The Philadelphia Eagles star and former All-Pro recently opened up about the dynamic on the couple’s podcast appearance with Good Mythical Morning, shedding light on Kylie’s feelings about pet names—and the ones she flat-out bans.
The Approved Nickname: “Joe”
While Kylie is generally not a fan of cutesy or overly sentimental nicknames, there is one exception she’s embraced. Jason explained that during Kylie’s college field hockey days, her athletic stance reminded him of a baby kangaroo, which inspired him to call her “Joey.” Over time, the nickname evolved into “Joe.”
“I call her Joe because when she played field hockey, she reminded me of like a baby kangaroo the way she was squatted down,” Jason shared. “So I called her Joey and narrowed it down to Joe.”
To this, Kylie laughed and responded, “Yeah, that one’s fine.”
The Banned Nicknames
However, Kylie made it clear there are certain nicknames Jason is absolutely not allowed to use—names like “Sweetie,” “Babe,” “Baby,” “Hon,” or “Honey.”
“Oh, Sweetie, he’s not allowed to say,” Kylie revealed. “There’s certain nicknames—Sweetie, Babe, Baby, Hon, Honey—you can only be called those things by, like, a waitress in a diner in South Philly.”
Kylie explained her reasoning, adding, “Otherwise, in Philadelphia, it takes on this kind of, ‘OK, Hon.’ It’s almost like a ‘Bless your heart.’ It just feels sharp. It just feels aggressive in a way that is not welcome.”

Growing Family Joy
The couple recently announced they are expecting their fourth daughter, adding to their growing family of three girls. Kylie shared the news on Instagram, humorously highlighting how each of their daughters reacted to the announcement.
“I feel like we captured a very accurate representation of how each of the girls feel about getting another sister. At least Ellie, Mom, and Dad are on the same page!” she captioned the post.
Jason Embraces His Role as “Girl Dad”
Jason, already a proud “Girl Dad,” couldn’t help but joke about the chaos that might lie ahead. On The Rich Eisen Show, he quipped about being outnumbered in the household.
“Fourth girl… I’m screwed in like 10 years,” Jason joked. “The moment they’re all in middle school, I feel like it’s just gonna be chaos.”
Despite the humor, Jason couldn’t be more excited about the family’s newest addition. “Kylie’s been killing it,” he said, expressing his admiration for his wife and their journey as parents.
Stopping at Four?
While Kylie and Jason have hinted that four might be their limit, Jason’s brother, Travis Kelce, isn’t convinced. The Kansas City Chiefs star has playfully suggested the couple should aim for a “starting five” to complete their family lineup.
For now, the Kelces are focused on embracing the joy and challenges of parenting their daughters, while sticking to a strict nickname policy that keeps things lighthearted and uniquely them.
