The New York Jets are currently sitting at a disappointing 3-9 record this season, a far cry from the expectations set at the beginning of the year. In an effort to turn things around, the team made significant moves, including parting ways with head coach Robert Saleh and trading for Aaron Rodgers’ longtime star receiver, Davante Adams.
However, neither move has provided the spark the Jets were hoping for, and the season has largely fallen short of expectations, especially with Rodgers attempting to make a comeback from an Achilles tear.
As the season winds down, many are left wondering whether Davante Adams will choose to return to New York next season, especially given the challenges the team has faced in 2024. Adams, when asked about his future with the Jets, provided an honest and uncertain response.
“That’s a great question and I truly don’t have an answer to it right now,” Adams said when asked about the 2025 season. “I would love to be a part of this football team. I love these guys. From Day 1, I was welcomed here, and it’s been a great experience. I’d love to go to war with these guys, but at the end of the day, it’s a business. There are a lot of factors—contractual obligations, Aaron’s future, and a lot of things that are beyond my control. So for now, we’re going to focus on finishing this year strong and hopefully doing enough to make everyone feel like staying together is the right move. But once the season ends, we’ll reassess and figure things out.”

Since joining the Jets, Adams has recorded 31 receptions for 344 yards and two touchdowns. Combined with his stats from his time with the Raiders earlier in the season, Adams has totaled 49 catches for 553 yards and three touchdowns through nine games.
It’s been a challenging year for the All-Pro receiver, who has struggled to find his rhythm amidst the changes and instability that have plagued the Jets’ offense.
Adams is set to become a free agent after this season, and as he hinted, his future in New York may largely depend on what Aaron Rodgers decides to do in 2025 and beyond. With Rodgers’ status still uncertain, Adams faces an important decision about his future.
The chemistry between Rodgers and Adams is undeniable, and the receiver’s willingness to stay could hinge on whether Rodgers also remains committed to the Jets.
Despite the setbacks, Adams remains hopeful. His loyalty to his teammates and appreciation for the organization’s culture suggest that he would be open to staying if the conditions are right. However, the NFL is a business, and much will depend on the Jets’ plans for the future, the direction of the franchise, and Rodgers’ potential return.
The Jets will likely have a busy offseason as they assess their coaching staff, roster, and overall strategy moving forward.
For now, all eyes will be on how the team finishes the 2024 season, and whether they can convince key players like Davante Adams to buy into their vision for the future.
Until then, Adams’ future in New York remains uncertain, but one thing is clear—he’s committed to giving his all until the very last game.
