On Tuesday, November 26, Chiefs defensive backs coach David Merritt Sr. posted a photo on social media showing that he had received a batch of homemade Pop-Tarts from Swift, 34, after her boyfriend Travis Kelce and the Chiefs triumphed over the Carolina Panthers on November 24. The sweet gesture came after yet another successful game for the team, and it was Swift’s way of spreading the joy of victory.
“Taylor Swift baked homemade victory Pop-Tarts for me!” Merritt wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter), along with the snapshot of the baked treats.
The photo showed a box containing the Pop-Tarts decorated with white icing and colorful sprinkles, with one partially eaten tart still in the box. There was also a handwritten note from Swift that read, “VICTORY POP TARTS!! Congratulations! Love Taylor.”
Merritt, clearly delighted by the thoughtful gesture, shared that his wife, Yolanda, soon brought him back to earth by revealing that he wasn’t the only recipient of Swift’s baked treats this season.
“Yolanda Merritt said, ‘She’s done it all season for different people, Dave,’” Merritt recounted, playfully adding an emoji to show his faux dismay. “I thought I was SPECIAL,” he joked, ending the post with more playful emojis, and praising Swift by adding, “Sweet young woman regardless!”

The coach also shared a heartwarming photo of Swift embracing his wife Yolanda at an NFL game, both of them smiling brightly for the camera. In the background of the picture, musician Machine Gun Kelly could be seen, adding another unexpected twist to the wholesome moment.
Taylor Swift has developed quite the reputation when it comes to her homemade Pop-Tarts, and this is not the first time her baking skills have delighted those around her.
The “Fortnight” singer has always been open about her love for baking, and it appears that her homemade treats have left a lasting impression on many lucky enough to try them—including some very prominent NFL figures.
In recent months, various team members and celebrities have raved about Swift’s baking. Notably, Channing Tatum praised her treats, as well as several Chiefs players who have been fortunate enough to sample her goodies.
Back in December 2023, former NFL quarterback Bernie Kosar shared a story about how Swift treated her boyfriend, Kelce, to her famous homemade cinnamon rolls. “We were having a pregame meal, and Taylor is so nice—she comes in by herself, and she’s just so cool. She made homemade cinnamon rolls for Travis as a pregame meal,” Kosar said during an appearance on Audacy’s AM 560 Sports WQAM.
A few months later, in February, Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid also mentioned Swift’s baking during an interview on Pro Football Talk Live.
Reid shared that Swift’s cooking had made an impression on the offensive linemen. “Behind the scenes, she likes to fit in—and she didn’t even know she was doing this, I don’t think—but she likes to cook, so she made the offensive linemen these homemade Pop-Tarts,” Reid said, clearly impressed by her thoughtfulness.
Swift’s baking prowess has even caught the attention of the Pop-Tarts brand itself. In an Instagram post shared on March 1, Pop-Tarts playfully urged Swift to “release the recipe,” while recreating one of the singer’s Eras Tour posters with a Pop-Tart photoshopped in the middle.
The post went viral, and many fans joined in the chorus, hoping to get a glimpse of the secret behind Swift’s famous treats.
As Taylor Swift continues to support Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs, it’s clear that her passion for baking has become part of the team’s camaraderie.
Whether it’s cinnamon rolls or Pop-Tarts, her culinary contributions have helped bring a little extra sweetness to the already victorious season.
For those lucky enough to be on the receiving end of her baked goods, it’s just one more reason to celebrate the ongoing success of the Chiefs—and to appreciate Swift’s genuine, thoughtful gestures.
