Last month, burglars targeted the Kansas City homes of NFL stars Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes ahead of their October 7th game against the New Orleans Saints. The incidents occurred just days apart, sparking concerns that the robberies may be connected to a broader crime spree.
According to a police report, the first burglary took place at Mahomes’ estate in Belton, Missouri, and was reported by a bodyguard shortly after midnight on October 6th. It remains unclear what, if anything, was stolen from the home of the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback.
At the time of the burglary, Mahomes, a three-time Super Bowl champion at age 29, was notably out celebrating his teammate Kelce’s 35th birthday on October 5th.
It is also uncertain if anyone was at home during the break-in, as Mahomes lives with his pregnant wife, Brittany Mahomes, and their two children—daughter Sterling, who is three years old, and son Bronze, who is one year old.
Less than 48 hours later, Kelce’s Leawood, Kansas mansion was also broken into. The burglary occurred around 7:30 p.m. on October 7th, just after the kickoff of the Chiefs’ matchup against the Saints. According to a police document obtained by TMZ, the burglars stole $20,000 in cash and damaged the back door of Kelce’s home.
Sources told TMZ that investigators believe the two burglary attempts were connected to similar crimes in the area. Insiders also revealed that federal authorities are now involved, with the FBI reportedly working alongside the Cass County Sheriff’s Office to investigate the break-in at Mahomes’ estate and the Leawood Police Department for the burglary at Kelce’s mansion.
According to the sources, the feds suspect that the burglaries may be tied to an organized crime group operating beyond Missouri.

The burglaries took place during a busy time for Kelce, as his friends and family were in Kansas City to celebrate his birthday. Most of Kelce’s guests were attending the game and a subsequent afterparty when the break-in occurred. Notably, Kelce’s girlfriend, pop superstar Taylor Swift, flew into Kansas City for the birthday festivities.
Sources previously revealed that Swift had organized a private party for Kelce that Sunday. It was reported that Swift and her father, Scott, took Kelce, his family, and the Mahomes family out to a popular sushi restaurant for an intimate celebration. The event reportedly ended early, as the NFL stars needed to prepare for their game the following day.
Although it’s unclear where Swift was staying during her visit, Chiefs players are typically required to stay at the team hotel the night before a home game. This requirement means that Kelce likely wasn’t home when the burglary took place, further contributing to the uncertainty around who might have been present at the time.
Representatives for both Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce did not immediately respond to requests for comment from Page Six.
The burglaries have raised questions about the safety and security of even the most high-profile athletes. Mahomes and his wife purchased their eight-acre property in Belton for $400,000 in 2020 and subsequently transformed it into a lavish mansion.
The property now boasts amenities like a basketball court, a par-3 golf hole, and a five-yard football field, making it a dream home for the star quarterback and his growing family.
Meanwhile, Kelce recently upgraded his living situation, purchasing a $6 million mansion last year as his relationship with Taylor Swift became more serious.
Sources revealed that the “New Heights” podcast host made the purchase to provide more privacy for himself and Swift. The sense of security that comes with living in a gated community was reportedly a significant factor in Kelce’s decision to buy the home, emphasizing his desire for a more secluded and protected lifestyle.
The burglaries at the homes of two of the NFL’s biggest stars have drawn attention to the vulnerabilities faced by celebrities, even those living in gated communities.
As federal authorities continue their investigation, questions remain about the motives behind the burglaries and whether they were targeted specifically because of the high-profile nature of the victims.
With the involvement of the FBI, it is hoped that more details will soon emerge, shedding light on the organized crime group that authorities believe may be behind the recent string of burglaries.
