The New York Giants fell to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday Night Football with a final score of 26-18, sinking their season record to a disappointing 2-6. For Giants fans, it was another tough loss in primetime, a scenario that’s become all too familiar during Daniel Jones’ tenure.
Jones, now in his sixth season as the Giants’ starting quarterback, has struggled under the bright lights, managing just one win in 16 primetime appearances.
His 1-15 primetime record highlights the mounting frustration around his performance.
Yet, this statistic isn’t the only one raising eyebrows about Jones’ career with the Giants. The quarterback has led the team to a 2-6 record (or worse) in five of his six seasons, fueling criticisms of his consistency and ability to lead the franchise to success.
Disheartened fans and analysts voiced their discontent on social media. “Not that it matters, but Daniel Jones truly has to be the worst 6-year starting QB in the history of the NFL,” one fan tweeted.
Others questioned his contract, with one user remarking, “You realize life isn’t fair when you see Daniel Jones making 40 million a year to play quarterback in New York.” Former NFL quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III even chimed in, adding, “Daniel Jones ruins more days than New York traffic.”

The Giants selected Jones sixth overall in the 2019 NFL Draft out of Duke University, a pick that raised eyebrows at the time due to his college performance.
Since taking over as the starter, Jones has played 66 games, posting a record of 24-41-1. His stats over those seasons include a 64.1% completion rate, with 13,954 passing yards, 68 touchdowns, and 44 interceptions.
On the ground, Jones has contributed 2,098 rushing yards and 13 rushing touchdowns on 382 carries, showcasing his mobility but struggling to find consistent success through the air.
As the Giants endure another losing season, changes appear inevitable.
Head coach Brian Daboll’s job may be in jeopardy, and with the franchise likely to hold a high draft pick, the front office could look to move on from Jones and bring in a rookie quarterback.
This would mean a full rebuild, with the Giants hoping a fresh start could finally shift the team’s fortunes.
