Quarterback Shedeur Sanders has been instrumental in the Colorado Buffaloes’ remarkable turnaround from last season’s 4-8 finish. Now at 6-2, the Buffaloes are ranked No. 23 in the AP Poll, marking their first appearance in the rankings since their 3-0 start in 2023.
Shedeur, son of head coach Deion Sanders, has put up impressive numbers, throwing for 2,591 yards, 21 touchdowns, and only six interceptions in eight games.
Despite his stellar performance, Shedeur’s Heisman Trophy odds remain outside the top five.
As of Week 9, he’s ranked seventh with odds at +5000, according to ESPN BET, even as he projects as a top-10 pick for the 2025 NFL Draft. Currently, these are the players leading the Heisman odds over Sanders:
- +260 Dillon Gabriel, Oregon Ducks QB
- +300 Travis Hunter, Colorado Buffaloes WR/CB
- +325 Cam Ward, Miami Hurricanes QB
- +450 Ashton Jeanty, Boise State Broncos RB
- +2500 Cade Klubnik, Clemson Tigers QB
- +4000 Carson Beck, Georgia Bulldogs QB
On Monday morning, Shedeur took to X (formerly Twitter) to reveal his personal pick for the Heisman. Instead of advocating for himself, he humbly supported his teammate, Travis Hunter, posting, “Give Travis Hunter the Heisman.”

Hunter has been a force on both sides of the ball, contributing at wide receiver and cornerback, and logging nearly every offensive and defensive snap for Colorado. His stats reflect his dual dominance: as a wide receiver, he’s tallied 60 receptions for 757 yards and eight touchdowns; on defense, he’s recorded 20 tackles, seven passes defended, two interceptions, and a forced fumble.
Hunter, too, has been vocal about his Heisman potential, even arguing for himself over other contenders, including Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty. His versatility and performance in high-stakes moments have bolstered his case as one of the most unique Heisman candidates in recent memory.
After a bye in Week 10, Shedeur and Hunter will return to action in Week 11 as the Buffaloes face the Texas Tech Red Raiders on November 9, with kickoff time yet to be announced.
As the season progresses, both Sanders and Hunter continue to make compelling cases for Heisman recognition while keeping Colorado in the national spotlight.
