LeBron and Bronny James are back in the spotlight together, but this time, it’s not on the basketball court — it’s in a court of law. According to a report from TMZ Sports, the Los Angeles Lakers’ father-and-son duo, LeBron and Bronny James, are being sued for their alleged involvement in a 2022 car accident.
The lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles County on Tuesday, just hours before the Lakers kicked off their 2024-25 NBA season against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The plaintiffs, identified as April Almanza Lopez and Kiara Rae McGillen, claim that in November 2022, while driving on a highway in Littlerock, California, their vehicle was struck by the Jameses.
The collision, they allege, resulted in physical injuries that require ongoing medical care and caused significant damage to their car, decreasing its value. The plaintiffs are now seeking unspecified damages from both LeBron and Bronny for their alleged roles in the accident.

Littlerock, a small community about 70 miles northeast of Downtown Los Angeles, is where the incident is said to have occurred. While the lawsuit does not specify who was driving at the time of the crash, it’s noted that Bronny had recently turned 18 in October 2004, just a month prior to the incident.
In addition to this legal battle, LeBron and Bronny made history on Tuesday night by becoming the first father-son duo to play together in an NBA game.
The James family shared a memorable moment during the Lakers’ season opener, but now, they are also sharing the legal spotlight as co-defendants in this lawsuit.
As both NBA teammates and now legal partners, the Jameses face an unusual challenge off the court.
