Tom Brady may be retired from the NFL, but at 47 years old, he still looks like he’s in prime playing shape. Recently spotted enjoying a day on the water, the football legend showed off his impressive physique, leading many fans to wonder if he could be eyeing a return to the field.
Brady, now pursuing a new career as a color commentator for Fox Sports, hasn’t let retirement slow him down when it comes to fitness. Surfing in the sun, Brady sported a life vest that revealed his muscular arms and toned abs, making it clear that he’s staying in remarkable shape even post-retirement.
Known for his disciplined lifestyle, Brady continues to follow an extreme health and fitness regimen. In fact, he recently shared a video on his YouTube channel where he showcased his strength by lifting more weight than he ever did during his NFL career. In the clip, Brady noted that during his playing days, his bench press max was 225 pounds.
“I remember back when I was playing, grinding it out with Matt Cassel, trying to see who could lift more and be the bigger ‘meat stick,’” Brady joked. “The most I ever did was 225 for about eight or nine reps.”

However, in his recent video, Brady surprised himself by easily benching 225 pounds again, and then topping it off by benching an additional 20 pounds, hitting a new personal best of 245 pounds. “If you told me this morning I’d be benching 245, I’d have said you’re out of your f***ing mind,” Brady quipped. “But hey, I am a great athlete—gotta give myself some credit.”
In addition to his strength gains, Brady has also demonstrated impressive athletic feats in retirement. Earlier this year, he posted a video showing him dunking a basketball with ease, a display of agility that had fans buzzing. Even more astonishing is the fact that Brady has actually improved his speed since his early NFL days. At the 2000 NFL Combine, a 22-year-old Brady ran the 40-yard dash in 5.28 seconds. In retirement, he clocked the same sprint at 5.12 seconds—faster than when he was two decades younger.
Brady’s improved speed and strength in his late 40s is a testament to his dedication to maintaining his health. Part of his secret could lie in the healthy eating habits he promotes, which include growing his own food. At his recently completed mega-mansion, Brady has multiple vegetable plots where he cultivates fresh produce. His emphasis on a clean, nutritious diet has clearly played a role in keeping him in top form.
As Brady continues to stay in incredible shape, some fans are calling for him to make a comeback to the NFL. His visible strength and fitness have sparked speculation, with many fans taking to social media to encourage him to step back onto the field.
“You’ve got to come out of retirement and beat the Chiefs,” one fan urged, referencing Brady’s longtime rivalry with Kansas City.
“The GOAT is still GOATing!” another fan wrote, acknowledging Brady’s impressive physical condition.
“Tom Brady’s warm-up is more than your 1 Rep Max,” one fan joked, admiring his recent lifting feats.
“Sounds like you’re making a comeback,” another fan teased.
“Bro, just play again. We all know you want to,” yet another fan pleaded.
Although Brady has not given any indication that he’s considering coming out of retirement, his physical prowess at 47 years old continues to fuel speculation.
For now, the legendary quarterback seems content in his new career as a broadcaster, but with his commitment to fitness and clear athletic ability, it’s no wonder some fans can’t help but wonder if the GOAT has one more NFL season left in him.
