A hit-and-run suspect in Boulder, Colorado, was arrested Thursday night after a dramatic incident in which he drove his vehicle onto the University of Colorado’s Folsom Field. The suspect, identified as 48-year-old Karl E. Haglund from Massachusetts, led police on a chaotic pursuit that culminated in the highly unusual intrusion onto the university’s iconic football field.
The chase began after Haglund allegedly crashed his blue pickup truck into several vehicles near the intersection of Foothills Parkway and Arapahoe Avenue, approximately a mile and a half from the football stadium. Police were called to the scene, but Haglund fled, prompting a high-speed chase through Boulder.
Despite multiple attempts by authorities to stop him, Haglund evaded capture and ultimately drove through the gates of Folsom Field. In a stunning turn of events, he maneuvered his truck onto the field itself, which is home to the University of Colorado Buffaloes football team.
Haglund was apprehended shortly after entering the stadium and arrested on several charges, including three counts of leaving the scene of an accident after causing damage, criminal attempt vehicular assault, reckless endangerment, driving without insurance, and trespassing. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident, though it caused significant concern in the local community.
