During Monday night’s game between the Indiana Fever and the Atlanta Dream, Caitlin Clark had a moment of concern when she tweaked her ankle. The injury occurred in the first quarter of Indiana’s 84-79 victory at Gateway Center Arena in College Park, Georgia. While defending, Clark rolled her left ankle, visibly in pain as she made her way to the sideline.
Fortunately, the injury turned out to be minor, and Clark was able to rejoin the game shortly after. Her return was pivotal, as she helped lead the Fever to a hard-fought win.
In the postgame press conference, Clark was asked about the ankle injury and made a humorous admission that showcased her lighthearted approach to the situation.
Reflecting on the incident, she mentioned how, after watching the replay, she thought her reaction seemed overly dramatic. “I saw the replay and thought, ‘Wow, I looked really soft.’ It wasn’t that bad of a turn, but it definitely hurt,” Clark said. “Sometimes you just need to take a moment. If you’ve ever sprained your ankle, you know it stings for a bit. But I was fine. When they asked if I wanted to go to the back, I said, ‘No, please, just tape it up here. Let’s get back out there.’ You just have to keep going.”
