Deion Sanders, known not only for his legendary football career but also for his pride in being a father, recently took a significant step to support some of his Colorado players who are fathers themselves.
Earlier this week, the Colorado head coach posted on X (formerly Twitter) with a seemingly straightforward inquiry—he asked if any local banks were interested in a partnership. At first glance, the post appeared to be an effort to secure more NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) sponsorships for his players. However, Coach Prime had a more meaningful plan in mind.
Sanders partnered with Elevations Credit Union to offer financial assistance specifically to his players who are also fathers. As part of this partnership, the bank has committed to opening savings accounts for the children of these players, each account starting with a balance of $2,121.
This gesture goes beyond the typical support for student-athletes, recognizing the unique challenges that come with balancing the responsibilities of being both a student and a parent. By providing this financial support, Sanders is helping to ensure that his players’ children have a more secure future.

Despite the positive impact of this initiative, Sanders has recently faced criticism, particularly after Colorado’s controversial decision to ban a local reporter from asking questions during press conferences.
This move has added to the complex relationship Sanders has with the media, where he is often seen as a polarizing figure.
Nevertheless, while Sanders may have his critics, gestures like this show a different side of Coach Prime—one that is deeply committed to the well-being of his players both on and off the field.
By partnering with Elevations Credit Union, Sanders is not just teaching his players about football; he’s also providing them with valuable support as they navigate the challenges of fatherhood while pursuing their dreams on the gridiron.
