Kai Trump, the eldest granddaughter of former President Donald Trump, made headlines on Sunday by announcing her commitment to play golf at the University of Miami. The 17-year-old, who is the daughter of Don Jr. and Vanessa Trump, shared her excitement and gratitude in a heartfelt Instagram post.
“I am beyond excited to announce my commitment to the University of Miami,” Kai wrote. “I want to thank my mom, Vanessa, and my dad, Don, for always supporting me through this journey. I couldn’t have done it without them, and I’m so grateful for their love and encouragement.”
Kai has had the unique opportunity to play on some of the world’s most prestigious golf courses, an experience she attributes in part to her grandfather, Donald Trump. “I would like to thank my Grandpa for giving me access to great courses and tremendous support,” she continued in her post. “His guidance has been invaluable to my development as a golfer.”
She also expressed appreciation for her extended family, friends, and coaches, acknowledging the collective effort that has helped her reach this milestone. “I would also like to thank my entire family for always encouraging and pushing me to be the best person I can possibly be. My friends have been there every step of the way, cheering me on, and I’m so grateful for their support. And last but certainly not least, I want to thank Coach Janice and Coach Jim for giving me this incredible opportunity. I am super excited to be a Cane and represent the University of Miami.

Kai Trump has been in the public eye since a young age, gaining significant attention during the Republican National Convention when her father, Don Jr., mentioned her desire to speak following an assassination attempt against her grandfather. The then-young girl’s words captured the attention of many when she spoke about her close relationship with her grandfather.
“He calls me during the middle of the school day to ask how my golf game is going and tells me all about his, but then I have to remind him that I’m in school and I’ll have to call him back later,” Kai told the crowd, reflecting on her close bond with the former president.
Her comments also touched on the resilience of her grandfather, who had recently survived an attempt on his life. “On Saturday, I was shocked when I heard that he had been shot, and I just wanted to know if he was OK,” she said, describing the moments of fear and concern for her grandfather’s safety.
She continued to praise her grandfather’s strength, saying, “A lot of people have put my Grandpa through hell, and he’s still standing. Grandpa, you are such an inspiration, and I love you. The media makes my grandpa seem like a different person, but I know him for who he is. He’s very caring and loving. He truly wants the best for this country. And he will fight every single day to make America great again.”
In her Instagram post, Kai also reaffirmed her admiration for her grandfather’s resilience and commitment to his ideals. “We love you, Grandpa. Never stop fighting!” she wrote, echoing the sentiments she shared during the convention.
As Kai Trump prepares to embark on her collegiate golf career at the University of Miami, she carries with her the support of a high-profile family and the lessons learned from her unique upbringing. With a promising future ahead, she’s set to make her own mark both on and off the golf course.
