Congratulations are in order for Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid, who recently married his longtime girlfriend, interior designer Lauren Kyle, in a stunning multi-day celebration in Ontario.
The wedding comes just months after McDavid’s Oilers experienced a heartbreaking loss in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final against the Florida Panthers in June.
The couple’s nuptials took place on Old Woman Island, a picturesque spot across from Lake Muskoka, where McDavid and Kyle got engaged last summer. The location holds special meaning for the couple, who also own a cottage on Lake Muskoka, making it an ideal setting for their wedding.
The wedding was nothing short of a grand affair. According to Kyle, the festivities were a 10-day production, featuring four events at different locations. The logistics were challenging, as the island could only be accessed by boat, but the effort paid off in creating an unforgettable experience.
The theme of the wedding was “European summer,” with guests dressing in “old money” attire and pastel hues of pink and purple, reminiscent of the hydrangeas that adorned the venue. Kyle shared with Vogue Australia that the theme came to life through the vibrant outfits, beautifully landscaped gardens, a spritz bar, and even a tennis court, all set to the backdrop of a live jazz band. “The European summer dream really came to life,” Kyle said, reflecting on the magical atmosphere of the celebration.

One of the most touching moments of the day was McDavid’s emotional vows. Known for his typically reserved and quiet demeanor, the NHL star surprised everyone with heartfelt and deeply emotional words during the ceremony. “Connor’s vows were so emotional and heartfelt — it was really special to share that in front of all of our friends and family,” Kyle remarked.
Kyle stunned in five different vintage outfits throughout the festivities. She wore a Ralph Lauren runway dress from the spring/summer 2007 collection and a Chloé dress famously modeled by Kate Moss in 1997. For the ceremony, she donned a custom Vivienne Westwood gown, and for the welcome dinner, she chose a dress by Danielle Frankel. McDavid complemented his bride’s elegant looks with a custom tuxedo by Montreal-based menswear label Cloakroom for the ceremony and a Brunello Cucinelli green linen suit for his first look.
After the ceremony, the newlyweds took a romantic boat ride around Lake Muskoka in a vintage wooden boat, savoring a private moment together amidst the celebrations. “Connor and I took a victory lap around the island; it was so nice to have a moment together, appreciate where we were, and all of the people who showed up to support us,” Kyle said. “We got to really relish in the moment.”
The afterparty featured a performance by Canadian DJ group Loud Luxury, capping off the luxurious celebration with high energy and excitement.
The wedding came nearly two months after the Oilers’ devastating 2-1 loss to the Panthers in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final. Despite the loss, McDavid’s performance during the playoffs earned him the Conn Smythe Trophy as the most valuable player. His exceptional season, which included 64 goals and 153 points, also earned him his third Hart Trophy as the NHL’s MVP in 2023.
McDavid proposed to Kyle last June, and the couple has been inseparable ever since. Kyle, who runs her own full-service interior design business, Kyle & Co., in Edmonton, is also an integral part of McDavid’s life off the ice. The couple shares a home in Edmonton with their miniature Bernedoodle, Lenard.
Their wedding marks a new chapter for McDavid and Kyle, blending their personal and professional lives in a celebration of love, commitment, and shared dreams.
