Tommy DeVito experienced a brief but exciting “Linsanity”-like run with the New York Giants during the 2023 season.
Stepping in due to injuries to starting quarterbacks Daniel Jones and Tyrod Taylor, DeVito played in nine games and made six starts, winning three of them.
During his time on the field, DeVito showcased his potential by throwing for 1,101 yards, eight touchdowns, and only three interceptions.
Despite his impressive performance, DeVito is aware that he won’t be the starting quarterback this season, as Daniel Jones is returning to full health. However, he has issued a warning to the Giants about the risk of losing him if they decide to waive him before the start of the season.

“I’m very aware of how they operate in this organization,” DeVito said, as first reported by ProFootballTalk. “That’s up to them to make that decision, make that gamble. I’m going to continue to play. We’ll see how everything unfolds.”
Currently, DeVito is listed as the third quarterback on the depth chart, behind Jones and Drew Lock. The Giants signed Lock to a one-year, $5 million deal in March to serve as the backup. Despite this, DeVito remains optimistic about his chances.
If he can improve his performance during training camp and the preseason, he could potentially overtake Lock for the QB2 position for the regular season.
As the Giants continue to prepare for the upcoming season, the next few weeks will be crucial for DeVito. His determination and ability to perform under pressure could make a significant impact on the team’s decisions.
Giants fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see how DeVito’s situation unfolds, as he aims to secure his place on the roster and possibly carve out a more prominent role.
