Former world No. 1 Jon Rahm made a significant move to LIV Golf ahead of the 2024 season, a decision that undoubtedly bolstered his bank account.
However, it appears that the superstar Spaniard may already be regretting this choice, less than a year into his new venture.
Rahm’s performance in the major tournaments has notably declined this year. He finished a disappointing 45th at The Masters, missed the cut at the PGA Championship, and managed only a tie for seventh at the British Open.
To add to his woes, he had to withdraw from the U.S. Open due to injury before the event even started.
Beyond his struggles on the course, Rahm seems to be genuinely unhappy with his experience on the LIV Golf Tour. Last month, a hot mic captured Rahm in an expletive-laden rant after a drone interrupted his backswing, causing him to drive the ball into the water.
“Every tournament. It’s f—— incredible. Right in my backswing. These f—— drones every time,” Rahm fumed.
If the drones weren’t enough, Rahm also had to contend with disruptive fans. During the LIV Golf UK event at JCB Golf and Country Club, Rahm began the second round with a two-shot lead.
However, by the 16th hole, he had fallen three shots behind leader Andy Ogletree. After missing his second shot on the hole and finding himself in the rough, Rahm stepped away from his ball and shouted at a fan, “Yell on our f—— backswing, you d——head.”

Rahm went on to make a bogey on that hole, further widening the gap between him and Ogletree. Despite an impressive opening round of 63, his second-round score of 70 left him three strokes back, finishing in a tie for fourth. Rahm has yet to secure a win on the LIV Tour, and his frustration is evident.
It is safe to say that Rahm’s list of regrets seems to be growing with each passing week.
The combination of subpar performances in major tournaments, disruptive experiences on the course, and an overall lack of enjoyment in his current golfing environment suggests that his decision to join LIV Golf may not have been as advantageous as initially thought.
As the season progresses, Rahm’s ability to adapt and find success on the LIV Tour will be closely watched. For now, however, the challenges he faces continue to mount, casting a shadow over what was supposed to be a lucrative and promising chapter in his career.
