Steph Curry has taken his shot.
The USA basketball star has publicly endorsed Kamala Harris in anticipation of her expected presidential battle with Donald Trump this fall.
Harris is set to replace Joe Biden as the Democratic candidate after the current President announced on Sunday that he will not seek reelection and endorsed his current VP to be the next Democratic leader.
If Harris becomes the candidate, she will face Trump in the crucial November election. Curry, speaking ahead of Team USA’s Olympics opener against Serbia this weekend, made it clear where his political allegiance lies by supporting Harris for the presidency.
“Interesting times in our country right now,” the Golden State Warriors point guard said. “Hopefully with her on the ticket, we’re winning the election. It’s a big deal, to say the least.”
Harris, born in Oakland, is a lifelong Warriors fan and has often expressed her admiration for the team, calling them a “constant source of joy and pride.” Curry, acknowledging this connection, spoke warmly about her. “She represents the Bay Area and is a big supporter of us, and we’re gonna give that energy right back to her. For her in this moment going ahead, it’s all about positive energy and optimism knowing how divided our country is right now. I’m just excited for the journey ahead for her.”

Curry has previously aligned himself with the Democratic Party, most notably during the 2020 Presidential election.
In a video with his wife Ayesha, the NBA star revealed their support for Joe Biden over Donald Trump. “We want to ensure that our kids live in a nation that is safe, happy, healthy, and fair, so this election,” Ayesha began, with Steph concluding, “We’re voting for Joe Biden.”
Curry’s political stance has also led to some notable conflicts with Trump in the past. In 2017, Curry turned down an invitation to visit the White House following the Warriors’ NBA championship win, prompting Trump to withdraw the invitation via Twitter (now X).
As the election season heats up, Curry’s endorsement of Harris adds to the anticipation and highlights the influence athletes can have in political discourse.
His support reflects his hopes for a united and positive future for the country under Harris’s potential leadership.
