The Los Angeles Dodgers celebrated Women’s Night at their home game against the rival San Francisco Giants on Tuesday.
The evening began with players naming their favorite female athletes, followed by the special women in their lives selecting walk-up songs for their at-bats, culminating in a 5-2 victory for the Dodgers.
As players arrived at the stadium, they were asked about their favorite female athlete.
Many took the opportunity to honor iconic sports figures such as legendary tennis player Serena Williams and rising WNBA star Caitlin Clark. However, Shohei Ohtani chose to highlight someone very close to his heart—his wife, Mamiko Tanaka.
Ohtani proudly shared that Tanaka played four years of professional basketball in Japan before retiring last year, underscoring her influence and inspiration in his life.
The event continued with a unique twist: the special women in the players’ lives were given the chance to pick walk-up songs for their at-bats. This added a personal and heartwarming touch to the game, celebrating the significant role of women in the athletes’ lives.
