Even though Aaron Rodgers is no longer with the Green Bay Packers, he hasn’t stopped taking jabs at their long-time rivals, the Chicago Bears.
Rodgers, who once famously proclaimed to a Chicago crowd that he “owns” them, offered a backhanded compliment to the Bears during a recent interview. He remarked that the team is “almost” good enough to beat the Packers.
The Packers finished second in the NFC North last season with a 9-8 record, while the Bears ended up fourth with a 7-10 record. Despite this, the Bears had the #1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft due to a trade with the Carolina Panthers the previous year.
“Yeah, I do [think Caleb Williams has what it takes to become a successful NFL QB],” Rodgers said during an appearance on the Pardon My Take podcast. He went on to discuss several players he likes, including D’Andre Swift, Keenan Allen, and Rome Odunze from Washington, before circling back to the Bears.
“I like [D’Andre] Swift, I like [Keenan] Allen, I like the receiver from Washington [Rome Odunze],” Rodgers continued. “And of course, you’ve still got DJ [Moore]. I think that team is almost good enough to beat the Packers… Almost good enough.”

Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears will have to wait until November 17 to prove they’ve got what it takes to match up with the Green Bay Packers, as the two teams don’t face off until then. Unfortunately for the Bears, Rodgers’ new team, the New York Jets, aren’t on their schedule this year.
Rodgers, who recently made headlines by skipping the Jets’ mandatory minicamp, showed up for the team’s official training camp on July 23. He was seen wearing a t-shirt featuring an Egyptian cat, a nod to his recent trip to Egypt.
The 40-year-old future Hall of Fame quarterback is gearing up for his first full game with the Jets, set for Monday, September 9, against the San Francisco 49ers.
As he prepares to lead Gang Green, Rodgers remains a significant figure in the NFL, with his sharp wit and competitive spirit continuing to make waves both on and off the field.
