Travis Kelce has returned to the Kansas City Chiefs training camp after an exciting and eventful offseason, during which he spent considerable time with his girlfriend, pop superstar Taylor Swift.
Following the Chiefs’ second consecutive Super Bowl victory in February, Kelce embarked on a European tour with Swift as she performed her Eras Tour.
Kelce made notable appearances at Swift’s concerts, including a memorable onstage cameo at London’s Wembley Stadium. He was also spotted at shows in Amsterdam and Dublin, capturing the attention of both sports and entertainment fans.
Now back at Chiefs camp sporting a new mustache, Kelce has been hailed as the “greatest of all time” by ESPN host Pat McAfee, who praised the tight end’s impressive start to training camp. “He’s just had an incredible offseason, literally taking over the entire globe. Shows up looking like that [with a mustache], then he’s scoring touchdowns, outrunning everybody,” McAfee said on his show. “He’ll be doing that until he’s 65 years old. That is why he’s the greatest tight end of all time whenever it’s all said and done. You look at his stats, you look at what he’s accomplished.”

Kelce’s statistics certainly support this claim. He is currently fourth all-time among tight ends with 11,328 receiving yards, although he remains nearly 4,000 yards behind leader Tony Gonzalez. McAfee emphasized that if Kelce and the Chiefs achieve a historic three-peat this season, many players on the team could earn a place on the Mount Rushmore of football.
Kansas City has bolstered its roster, adding Marquise “Hollywood” Brown and first-round pick Xavier Worthy to its receiving corps, providing quarterback Patrick Mahomes with even more weapons. “If they become the first-ever three-time Super Bowl champion in back-to-back-to-back years… you’re gonna have to put a lot of people on this team in on Mount Rushmores at every single position,” McAfee added.
Kelce received a warm welcome from Chiefs fans, who greeted him with cheers during the team’s second day of training camp. Despite his busy offseason following Swift’s tour, Kelce made sure to return in time for training camp, having been spotted in Gelsenkirchen, Germany just four days before reporting.
Coach Andy Reid recently commented on Kelce’s relationship with Swift, noting that both enjoy stepping out of the spotlight occasionally. “I think it’s great for him. He can handle it. As a matter of fact, I think he probably loves it to a point. I think there’s a great escape for him,” Reid said on the Scoop City podcast. “I said that about Taylor, too. I mean, she comes to the game, she can kind of escape having to be the show. When he goes to her concerts, she’s the star.”
With six weeks left to prepare for their first game against the Ravens on September 5, Kelce and the Chiefs are focused on the season ahead. As they aim for another Super Bowl title, the team’s dedication and Kelce’s exceptional skills will be crucial in their quest for a historic achievement.
