Brittney Griner, the 10-time WNBA All-Star, has officially become a mom. Griner and her wife, Cherelle, welcomed a baby boy on July 8. The newborn weighed 7 pounds, 8 ounces, but the couple has not yet revealed his name.
In a heartfelt interview on CBS Sports’ “We Need to Talk,” Griner shared her joy about the new addition to their family. “That’s my man. He is amazing,” Griner gushed. “They said as soon as you see them, everything that you thought mattered just goes out the window. That’s literally what happened.”
As Griner adjusts to life as a new mother, she is also gearing up for an intense period of competition. She is set to represent Team USA in the upcoming Paris Olympics, which begins next week. Griner has been a key player in the gold medal-winning Team USA squads in the 2016 and 2020 Olympics, as well as in the 2014 and 2018 World Cup teams that also clinched gold.
This weekend, Griner is in Phoenix, where she has played her entire WNBA career, for the league’s All-Star festivities. The highlight of the weekend is the All-Star game, scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, where the WNBA All-Stars will face off against Griner and Team USA in a much-anticipated showcase.

Her contribution on the court continues to be invaluable, and her presence is a significant boost for both her WNBA team and Team USA.
As she balances her new role as a mother with her professional commitments, Griner’s determination and spirit remain unshaken.
The All-Star weekend and the forthcoming Olympics provide her with platforms to showcase her exceptional talent and dedication to the sport. Congratulations to Brittney and Cherelle Griner on their new arrival, and best wishes to Brittney as she continues to excel in her basketball career.
