Andy Reid has shared his thoughts on why Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce make such a great couple, highlighting that their relationship serves as a much-needed escape for both of them.
Since they began dating publicly last fall, Swift and Kelce have been prominent figures at each other’s events, whether it’s a football game or a concert. Reid, the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs, believes that both enjoy taking a step back from the spotlight occasionally.
“He can handle it. I think there’s a great escape for him,” Reid explained on The Athletic’s “Scoop City” podcast. “I said that about Taylor too. I mean, she comes to the game, she can kind of escape having to be the show. And when he goes to her concerts, she’s the star and he can be hanging out there and be the support or the waterboy.”

This off-season, Travis has been following Taylor through Europe on her Eras Tour, even joining her onstage at Wembley Stadium in London. When asked at a celebrity golf tournament near Lake Tahoe, Nevada, if he’d be making another on-stage cameo, Kelce played it coy. “I can’t let anything out of the bag,” he said at the American Century Championship. “But right now, I’m in full football mode after golf.”
While Kelce might not be returning to the stage soon, he discussed his previous cameo on a recent episode of his podcast, “New Heights.” “It’s very unlike me,” Kelce told his brother, Jason. “I’m not big, I don’t like going on stages. There were a lot of people out there, really didn’t feel at home.”
He also shared how the performance came about. “I initially mentioned to Tay, I was like, ‘How funny would it be if I just rolled out on one of the bikes during the 1989 [set]?'”
Meanwhile, Swift has fully embraced being a Chiefs fan since she and Kelce started dating. She attended 13 games last season, including the Super Bowl, where Kansas City emerged as NFL champions once again.
Kelce will return to the Chiefs for his 12th season after signing a new two-year, $34.25 million deal this offseason. There had been speculation that he might retire, especially given his high-profile relationship with Swift and his brother Jason’s retirement after a stellar career with the Philadelphia Eagles.
For now, Travis Kelce seems committed to balancing his career with his personal life, finding joy and escape in his relationship with Taylor Swift while continuing to excel on the football field.
