Chennedy Carter doesn’t have a vote for WNBA Rookie of the Year, but if she did, her choice would be crystal clear.
Following the Chicago Sky’s victory over the Seattle Storm on Friday night, Carter was asked about Angel Reese’s standout performance. The former LSU star had delivered an impressive 27 points and 10 rebounds, extending her double-double streak.
Speaking to Ion TV, Carter made her feelings known: “Barbie’s Rookie of the Year. There’s no other way to put it,” she said, using Reese’s nickname. “She goes out, she does her work every single night no matter what team we’re facing. I’m telling you – Barbie’s Rookie of the Year.”

Reese is indeed a strong contender for the award, with her main competition being No. 1 pick Caitlin Clark. Earlier this week, ESPN’s Monica McNutt also advocated for Reese to win the honor.
“My Rookie of the Year is going to go based on the standings. That is how you have the opportunity to measure impact. And the Sky right now are in the playoffs. So, you’d have to give the nod in my mind to Angel Reese,” McNutt said. “Look, the double-double streak she’s rocking and rolling. She already has 11 straight.”
Reese extended her double-double streak to 12 games on Friday night, solidifying her reputation as a dominant force on the boards.
The No. 7 pick has been a consistent powerhouse, showcasing her talent and resilience game after game.
The debate continues among fans and analysts: Should Angel Reese be named Rookie of the Year? Given her remarkable performances and significant impact on the Sky’s playoff position, many believe she is more than deserving of the title.
