Tom Brady recently admitted to feeling a twinge of regret when watching how much fun Patrick Mahomes has on the field. However, one of Brady’s former teammates is skeptical of this claim.
Christian Fauria, who played alongside Brady with the New England Patriots and now hosts a radio show on WEEI in Boston, humorously suggested that Brady is not “wired” the same way as Mahomes.
“I think Brady is a liar,” Fauria said according to the New York Post. “When I heard it, I was like, ‘Who’s he kidding? He can’t change. He can’t downshift. This is not who he is. He’s not wired like Mahomes.'”

Fauria also disputed the notion that Brady didn’t enjoy himself on the field. “I’ve seen him have a great time; I’ve heard him laugh and joke around,” the former tight end said. “But when it came to the game, you could see it during certain passes, or where he won a game or got a first down. He’s extremely happy, he’s celebrating like a little kid, but the reality is he is just wired so differently than Mahomes. Everything about him is different.”
Brady reflected on Mahomes’ game during an appearance on “The Pivot” podcast, expressing his belief that today’s quarterbacks seem to be having more fun. “When I see these young players, I see like Patrick out there at quarterback, running around, laughing, having fun, I’m like, ‘I used to be like that. What the hell happened?'” Brady said, as reported by The Daily Mail.
Despite Fauria’s lighthearted skepticism, Brady’s comments reveal a nostalgic side, reflecting on his own evolution in the sport. While Brady may have approached the game with a more intense and disciplined demeanor compared to Mahomes, his passion and enjoyment were undoubtedly present, albeit expressed differently. As Brady looks back on his illustrious career, it’s clear that the joy and fun of the game, in their own unique forms, were always a part of his journey.
