Controversial boxer Ryan Garcia continues to dominate headlines with his recent actions and statements, creating waves in the sports world.
On Thursday, Mauricio Sulaiman, the president of the World Boxing Council (WBC), announced that Garcia would be expelled from the organization due to inflammatory comments the 25-year-old made on social media. Sulaiman’s decision was communicated through a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Exercising my authority as president of the WBC, I am hereby expelling Ryan Garcia from any activity with our organization. We reject any form of discrimination. I fear for Ryan’s well-being as he has declined multiple attempts for our help with mental health and substance abuse,” Sulaiman posted, accompanying his message with a photo of Garcia.

The controversy escalated when Garcia participated in an audio chat stream on X, discussing various social and religious issues, including the Palestine-Israel conflict.
Identifying himself as a Christian, Garcia referred to Israelites as God’s chosen people. He also addressed the protection of young children and harshly criticized Muslims who, according to him, defend having sexual relationships with younger teenage girls. His exact words were, “f–k Muslims that r-pe little kids.”
Later that day, Garcia took to Instagram for a livestream, where he remained unapologetic about his statements. “You ain’t going to catch me apologizing. … Shoot me if you want. I don’t give a f–k,” Garcia defiantly told his viewers.
This incident is not Garcia’s first run-in with controversy. He is currently serving a one-year suspension from the WBC after testing positive for a banned substance following his fight with Devin Haney in April.
In a separate development last month, Garcia announced his retirement from boxing. While it was unclear whether he intended to follow through with his retirement, his expulsion from the WBC might have hastened his departure from the sport.
