Christian McCaffrey came to the defense of his wife, Olivia Culpo, on Tuesday after a fashion influencer harshly criticized Culpo’s Dolce & Gabbana wedding dress on social media.
On Monday, stylist Kennedy Bingham shared a detailed critique of the long-sleeve ball gown Culpo wore for her June 29 wedding to the 49ers running back in Rhode Island.
Bingham’s TikTok video, which lasted nearly six minutes and garnered two million views by Thursday, claimed the dress lacked personality.
“There is no personality in this dress,” Bingham stated. “Usually wedding dresses will have something of the bride injected into it, whether it’s a little bit of beading, some jewelry, detailing, something. This is just nothing, it’s the absence of personality.”
McCaffrey responded strongly to Bingham’s post on Instagram, where the video was also shared. He commented, “What an evil thing to post online. I hope you can find joy and peace in the world, the way my beautiful wife does.”
Culpo also addressed the critique, as shown in a screenshot captured by Bingham. She wrote, “Wow, what an absolutely evil person you are. I hope no one ever tears you apart in this way because it’s extremely hurtful. I love this dress, and it was everything I wanted and more.”
In Bingham’s video, the stylist further analyzed Culpo’s comments from a recent Vogue interview, where Culpo mentioned she didn’t want her dress “to exude sex in any way, shape, or form,” and that she wanted the look to be “as serious” as the “covenant” of marriage.
“If I were to just look at the dress, I would see a beautiful bride in a beautiful, simple, elegant dress,” Bingham said. “But it’s all the stuff surrounding the dress that leaves kind of a bitter aftertaste.”

Bingham elaborated, “There is nothing wrong with wanting a modest wedding dress, or just modest attire in general, but the way she was talking about this went beyond just wanting something modest for herself and pushed this idea of what she thinks all brides should look like.”
She also found it “weird” how much Culpo emphasized “coverage.” Culpo told Vogue, “When I think about Christian and what he loves and the moments that he thinks that I’m most beautiful, it’s absolutely in something like this: timeless, covered, and elegant.”
Bingham criticized this perspective, saying, “I just think the usage of the word covered is so icky because you are not covered in day-to-day life, and also, why is he thinking you’re the most beautiful when you’re covered? That’s such an odd thing.”
Bingham concluded the video by asserting, “It’s very clear that this was not a wedding, this was a conservative campaign, and it wasn’t even well done. You took this disingenuous pick-me route that honestly felt more like you were thinking about your narrative than you were about your actual marriage,” she said, captioning the clip: “From Miss Universe to Miss Pick Me.”
Despite the critique, Culpo’s wedding was a celebration of her personal style. In addition to the ball gown, she sported two other looks for the reception and afterparty. She and McCaffrey have been together since 2019, and their wedding was a highly anticipated event.
The couple’s public defense of each other underscores their strong bond and shared resilience against criticism. As they move forward, their love story continues to captivate fans and followers alike.
