A new feud appears to be brewing between Ole Miss football coach Lane Kiffin and ESPN’s Paul Finebaum.
The tension began when Finebaum, in an interview with Berry Tramel of Tulsa World, expressed his disdain for Kiffin’s sense of humor.
“Everyone in the media, Berry, we’re on the older statesman side of it, is in love with Lane Kiffin,” Finebaum said. “They think he’s hilarious. I don’t think he’s that funny. I don’t think his tweets are that interesting.”
Kiffin wasted no time firing back on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Wednesday. He questioned why Finebaum seemed so irritated by his personality. “Why so angry Paul? I think you’re funny,” Kiffin wrote. “Also ? @Vol_Baseball ? won the Natty!!! How can you be in such a bad mood??”

Given the personalities involved, it’s not surprising that this feud has emerged. Kiffin is known for being one of the most outspoken coaches in sports, while Finebaum has never shied away from calling out anyone in the industry.
Though Kiffin’s tweet could have been the end of the exchange, the upcoming 2024 season suggests that Finebaum might have more to say about Ole Miss and its coach.
With the season rapidly approaching, fans can likely expect a few more jabs from Finebaum directed at Kiffin.
Ole Miss is set to kick off the new season on August 31 against Furman. As the team prepares for the start of the season, the spotlight on Kiffin and his public exchanges will only add to the anticipation and drama surrounding college football.
