Charissa Thompson, known for her dynamic presence as an NFL on Prime host, has openly discussed her reluctance to venture into marriage a third time, shaped largely by her prior experiences.
Despite two previous attempts at marital bliss, Thompson remains wary of trying again, her decisions rooted in the lessons learned from her past relationships.
Thompson’s first marriage at the age of 24 featured a spontaneous and unconventional ceremony, elements she recounted during an episode of her podcast, Calm Down with Erin and Charissa, which she co-hosts with Erin Andrews.
Describing a whirlwind decision that led her from nearly breaking up with her boyfriend to marrying him, Thompson shared, “I go to break up with him, he says, ‘We’re not breaking up, we’re getting married.’ I go, ‘OK.’ We got to Hollywood and get tattoo rings – I had never had a tattoo, he had never had a tattoo – get ring tattoos.”

This impromptu decision escalated quickly to a casual beach wedding in Laguna Beach. “And then, four days later, I was like, ‘Well if we’re going to get married, we’re going to get married on a beach in Laguna beach because I want to get married on a beach.’ He said, ‘OK.’ I pull out a Forever 21 white dress out of my closet, I wear that, I get flowers from the side of the road, and Polaroids were our pictures for my wedding. That was the wedding,” Thompson recalled.
The spontaneity didn’t end at the altar; the newlyweds even found themselves crashing another wedding on the beach and cutting a cake that wasn’t theirs.
While Thompson cherished the unique aspects of her first marriage, it did not last, leading to a divorce. Her second marriage to sports agent Kyle Thousand was more traditional, motivated partly by Thousand’s desire to marry.
Despite the different approach, this relationship also ended in divorce in 2022, adding to Thompson’s reservations about marriage.
Currently, Thompson is in a relationship with marketing executive Steven Cundari. She expresses contentment with their partnership but remains cautious about entering into marriage again.
Reflecting on her past experiences, she metaphorically stated, “Now we’ve got two strikes. I don’t know about you, but I’m in the batter’s box and I ain’t looking to strike out for a third and final time.”
Thompson’s candid reflections reveal not only her personal growth through her romantic experiences but also her resolve to prioritize her happiness and well-being, whether married or not.
Her story is a reminder of the complexities of love and marriage, and the personal evolution that often comes from navigating these profound relationships.
