During Tom Brady’s Hall of Fame induction ceremony at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, Patrick Mahomes faced a chorus of boos from New England Patriots fans.
The 28-year-old Kansas City Chiefs quarterback was delivering a video message congratulating Brady on his induction into the Patriots Hall of Fame when the jeers erupted.
“I just wanna say congrats to Tom on being inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame,” Mahomes said in his tribute, his words nearly drowned out by the loud disapproval. He expressed his gratitude to Brady for the guidance he received, especially after a pivotal AFC championship game. “That put the stamp on all the hard work I’ve been putting in. Congrats again, man.”
The booing reflects the intense competition fans perceive between Mahomes, who has won three Super Bowls, and Brady, who has seven Super Bowl rings.
Despite this, Mahomes has consistently acknowledged Brady as the greatest quarterback in NFL history.

In February 2023, Mahomes commented on the comparisons with Brady, suggesting the possibility of reaching similar heights. “If you ask me that question in 15 years, I’ll see if I can get close to seven, but seven seems like a long way away still,” he stated, according to Sports Illustrated.
Mahomes, who faced off against Brady in significant matchups including the 2019 AFC championship and the 2021 Super Bowl, wasn’t the only one to receive a less-than-warm welcome at the ceremony. Eli Manning and Michael Strahan also experienced boos during their video messages.
Tom Brady, who retired from the NFL in 2023, spoke about his profound connection to the Patriots during his induction speech. “Relationships are built on shared experience, and the most meaningful things in my life are my relationships,” he shared.
Brady reflected on his two-decade tenure with the Patriots that included six Super Bowl wins before he joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020, where he clinched his seventh championship in 2021.
