Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever are set to face the Connecticut Sun, one of the WNBA’s top teams, at least once more during the 2024 season.
In their encounters so far, except for one closely contested game, the matchups have been overwhelmingly dominated by the Sun.
Entering their latest game with a stellar 9-1 record, the Connecticut Sun had little difficulty overcoming the 3-9 Indiana Fever at the Mohegan Sun Arena.
The game highlighted the stark contrast between the two teams’ current forms.
During the game, after a notable interaction where Sun guard DiJonai Carrington fouled Clark on the perimeter and then mocked her, Carrington commented on their approach to guarding Clark this time around. “I think the scout was similar to the last time,” Carrington explained. “We switched some things up, it was a lot of one-on-one. We didn’t trap as much.”
Tyasha Harris, Carrington’s teammate, added her thoughts in a pointed remark aimed at Clark: “It’s seat belt season for her,” indicating a defensive tightening up around Clark, who managed only 10 points on 3 of 8 shooting, marking one of her lowest-scoring performances of the season, according to ESPN.com.

During the game, Carrington also had a moment that went viral when she exaggerated a reaction to emphasize that Clark had flopped to draw a foul, an action that Clark responded to with a perplexed expression and no verbal retaliation.
Meanwhile, off the court, Clark has been at the center of discussion following USA Basketball’s controversial decision to leave her off the U.S. women’s Olympic roster.
This marks the first time in history the U.S. women’s team does not include a player under the age of 25.
While Clark was not the only notable omission, her absence was particularly striking given her prominence in the sport.
