Usain Bolt’s participation in a charity soccer match took an unfortunate turn when he was carried off the field with a ruptured Achilles.
The incident occurred while Bolt, 37, was defending for the Soccer Aid World XI team at Stamford Bridge Stadium in London, as reported by TMZ.
Initially, Bolt’s injury did not seem severe when he collapsed on the pitch.
However, the situation escalated as he needed to be stretchered off.
Later, the eight-time Olympic gold medalist confirmed on social media that he had ruptured his Achilles. In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), Bolt shared an image of himself in a leg brace and on crutches, captioning it: “Ruptured Achilles but done know we a warrior.”

Despite Bolt’s early exit, the charity event, Soccer Aid for UNICEF, was a success, raising an estimated $100 million, according to TMZ.
Bolt, a renowned track and field champion and avid soccer enthusiast, has often shown support for soccer.
Last August, he expressed admiration for the Jamaican women’s soccer team after their performance in the Women’s World Cup, posting on X, “You made us all proud #ReggaeGirlz.” The team had earlier drawn global attention by tying 0-0 with Brazil, the world’s No. 8 ranked team, a result that propelled the No. 43-ranked Jamaican team to the knockout stages. This was described by Fox Sports announcer Jacqui Oatley as “an achievement beyond belief.”
Unfortunately, their impressive run ended in the next match with a narrow 0-1 defeat to Colombia.
