The decision to leave Indiana Fever star rookie Caitlin Clark off Team USA for the upcoming Paris Olympics has ignited a flurry of online debates.
Former Boston Celtics guard Evan Turner, however, pointed out that the outrage over Clark’s omission should extend to another overlooked player, Arike Ogunbowale.
Turner expressed his thoughts on X, formerly known as Twitter, saying, “If you’re complaining that Caitlin Clark got snubbed from Team USA and you don’t fret over Arike Ogunbowale, then you can consider yourself a casual.”

Arike Ogunbowale, the dynamic guard for the Dallas Wings, has been an all-star for the past three WNBA seasons and is currently the second-leading scorer in the league during the 2024 season.
Despite her impressive average of 26.6 points per game, Ogunbowale is notably the only player among the top four scorers this season who was not selected for the Paris Olympics.
The roster includes A’Ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces, Napheesa Collier of the Minnesota Lynx, and Kahleah Copper of the Phoenix Mercury.
This selection issue highlights the intense competition and tough decisions faced by Team USA, which has a legacy of dominance in Olympic basketball, having secured gold nine times, including the most recent victory at the 2020 Tokyo Games.
The U.S. women’s basketball team is anticipated to be a formidable contender in Paris, raising the stakes for roster decisions.
