Earlier this week at the BMW Charity Pro-Am, a Golf Channel reporter made a cringe-worthy error by mistaking Citadel football coach Everette Sands for Texas football legend Vince Young.
This mix-up quickly spread across social media, leaving fans baffled and amused by the confusion.
On Saturday morning, Sands responded to the incident with good humor, sharing a photo on social media of himself and Vince Young together on the golf course. Without directly mentioning The Golf Channel in his caption, Sands light-heartedly wrote, “Great times at BMW ProAm this week. Had a chance to hang with #VinceYoung!”

Sands also recounted the mix-up during an interview with Scott Eisberg from WCIV. “The young lady came up, and she said ‘Vince,’ and I thought she was introducing herself to me. And she said ‘Can I get an interview after you tee off?’ and I was like, ‘Sure.’ And I teed off, and then she came up, and she started talking about being one of the best quarterbacks in the NCAA, playing for Texas, and a six-year NFL career, and I was like ‘She thinks I’m Vince Young.’ It was a very interesting moment,” Sands explained, as reported by Awful Announcing.
Sands handled the entire situation with grace and a sense of humor, earning him praise for his gentlemanly conduct amidst the awkward circumstances.
