At a recent shootaround, Indiana Fever’s standout rookie Caitlin Clark addressed the extensive media coverage of her first season in the WNBA.
Displaying her usual poise, Clark expressed regret that discussions about the league often extend beyond just the sport.
Clark, who avoids social media, mentioned that she still catches wind of the narratives through other channels. “I’m not on social media, so I don’t see a lot of it. However, I still watch sports on TV at home, so I’m not completely shielded from it,” she said. Despite the external noise, her main concentration remains on the game itself. She expressed some frustration about the focus often being away from the actual gameplay and the talents of the players.
“My focus is strictly on basketball. I’m here to play and help the Fever succeed,” Clark emphasized, distancing herself from the off-court dramas. “This is my job, and I’m not here for all the other stuff. Neither are my teammates, and the same goes for the rest of the teams in this league.”
