Everyone has an opinion on the divisive Caitlin Clark situation unfolding in the WNBA.
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver addressed several topics during a media session before Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Thursday night, including the treatment of WNBA rookie Caitlin Clark during her debut season.
Since being selected as the No. 1 overall pick in April’s draft, Clark has been in the spotlight, which intensified this week following a hard foul by Chennedy Carter of Chicago that sent her to the ground. This incident has sparked debates about how veteran players interact with newcomers like Clark.
Silver commented on the situation, stating, “It’s not uncommon in basketball to have ‘welcome to the league’ moments, especially for highly touted rookies. However, I definitely want to see Caitlin treated fairly and appropriately within the league. From what I’ve seen, she appears capable of handling herself; she’s a tough player.”
