Former NFL player Brandon Pettigrew found himself in a confrontation with police early Sunday morning at a Dallas 7-Eleven, leading to his arrest.
The incident, captured on surveillance footage obtained by TMZ, showed Pettigrew punching and breaking a glass door during an argument with officers, prompting them to draw their tasers.
Pettigrew, a retired Detroit Lions tight end, was taken into custody around 2 a.m. without further complications and was charged with criminal mischief.
He was released from jail Sunday afternoon. The details surrounding the cause of the altercation have not been disclosed, and the Dallas Police have not provided additional information in response to inquiries.

This is not Pettigrew’s first encounter with legal trouble. He was previously arrested in 2017 following a bar fight in Dallas and faced aggravated assault charges in Pittsburgh in 2018 over a dispute concerning an unpaid limousine bill, though these charges were later dropped.
Pettigrew, originally from Tyler, Texas, was a notable player at Robert E. Lee High School and later at Oklahoma State University. His college performance as a tight end led the Detroit Lions to draft him in the first round of the 2009 NFL Draft.
Over his NFL career, he started in 85 of his 93 games, scored 17 touchdowns, and logged 2,965 receiving yards. His tenure with the Lions ended in 2016 after he sustained a knee injury.
