Pat McAfee sparked outrage after he referred to Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark as a ‘white b—-‘ during a “Caitlin Clark PowerPoint” presentation on the “Pat McAfee Show.”
Pat McAfee expressed frustration with the media’s portrayal of the 2024 WNBA rookie class during his ESPN show on Monday.
He criticized the frequent references to the “great rookie class” and argued that the hype is predominantly due to one player, Caitlin Clark.
While acknowledging that Clark is part of a talented group that includes Cameron Brink and Angel Reese, McAfee emphasized that Clark, the No. 1 overall pick, is the primary draw increasing attention toward the WNBA. He pointedly remarked, “I would like the media people that continue to say, ‘This rookie class, this rookie class, this rookie class.’ Nah, just call it for what it is — there’s one white [expletive] for the Indiana team who is a superstar.”
McAfee, who broadcasts from Indianapolis, has been an advocate for women’s sports, particularly praising Caitlin Clark and women’s basketball.

People were particularly outraged by McAfee referring to Clark as a “white b—-.”
This led to McAfee issuing an apology on X which received praise from his fans.
I shouldn’t have used “white bitch” as a descriptor of Caitlin Clark. No matter the context.. even if we’re talking about race being a reason for some of the stuff happening.. I have way too much respect for her and women to put that into the universe. My intentions when saying it were complimentary just like the entire segment but, a lot of folks are saying that it certainly wasn’t at all. That’s 100% on me and for that I apologize… I have sent an apology to Caitlin as well. Everything else I said… still alllllll facts. #Journalism #WNBAProgrum #SheIsTheOne
While most social media apologies receive a ton of criticism, McAfee’s seemed not to.
