Caitlin Clark’s boyfriend and brother have both expressed their opinions on the WNBA’s latest controversy by liking tweets critical of Angel Reese, an Indiana Fever player and rival of Clark.
The controversy began during the Fever’s highly anticipated win over the Chicago Sky on Saturday when Clark was bodychecked by Chennedy Carter.
Reese, who was on the bench, jumped up to cheer the incident, which sparked significant online backlash.
Clark’s boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, has a history of liking posts that disparage Reese.
One such post from Barstool Sports’ Dave Portnoy called Reese a “classless piece of s***” following her ring celebration directed at Clark during their college days.
Another post McCaffery liked referred to Reese as “highkey not good… she’s just bigger than everyone.”
He also endorsed a post criticizing the decision to award both Clark and Reese college basketball’s Athlete of the Year title, suggesting it was done to avoid internet outrage.
Clark’s brother, Colin Clark, also showed his disapproval by liking a tweet mocking Reese for “hopping off the bench to throw a parade for Caitlin Clark’s murder.”
He also liked a tweet claiming that Draymond Green would have faced severe consequences if he had done what Carter did to Clark in the Fever-Sky game.
In response to the bodycheck, Caitlin Clark commented,
“That’s just not a basketball play, but I’ve got to play through it. That’s what basketball is about at this level.”
Chennedy Carter refused to discuss the incident or her reasons for the action in the post-game press conference, stating,
“I ain’t answering no Caitlin Clark questions. I don’t know what she said. I didn’t say anything.”
