Saturday’s matinee matchup between the Chicago Sky and Indiana Fever was one of the biggest events on the day’s sports calendar, earning a prime spot on ESPN’s SportsCenter.
The show opened with highlights from the game at 5 PM, but surprisingly, it failed to mention one of the biggest stories from the matchup.
In the third quarter, the Sky’s Chennedy Carter pushed the Fever’s Caitlin Clark to the floor in a play that many have called a “cheap shot.”
The incident sparked widespread discussion on social media, with fans reacting and debating the foul.
During the SportsCenter segment, not only was the foul omitted, but the entire third quarter seemed to be left out of the highlight package.

ESPN anchor Nicole Briscoe referred to “some drama in the WNBA” before showing the highlights.
After the segment covered the first half, Briscoe remarked, “forget about the 3rd, doesn’t matter, didn’t happen,” even though Carter’s foul was dominating the headlines.
The segment was revised for SportsCenter’s next airing at 6 PM, which included on-screen graphics to highlight Carter and Clark during the foul.
The anchors also mentioned Angel Reese appearing to celebrate Carter’s foul on Clark from the bench.
“Reese obviously seems to like the energy, if you will,” Briscoe noted.
“Fair enough,” Mark Eaves replied.
The play is another example of the physicality Clark has faced early in her WNBA career.
Teams have not been shy about making her uncomfortable on the court, but many felt that Carter’s foul on Saturday was unnecessary.
It remains to be seen if there will be any discipline for Carter following the controversial play.
Despite the incident, the Fever managed to secure a victory in a tense game on Saturday afternoon.
