Jared McCain, a potential lottery pick in the 2024 NBA draft, is the target of an impersonation scam on Snapchat.
According to TMZ Sports, an individual is posing as McCain, gaining the trust of fans before offering “gifted items from SKIMS and other companies at a discounted price.”
The scammer then asks victims to send money to a CashApp account that lacks McCain’s image or name.
Despite the obvious red flag, the scammer reassures victims that this is to prevent unsolicited attention from women.

After receiving the money, the scammer either disappears or blocks the buyer.
McCain’s team is aware of the scam and is working with Snapchat to remove the fake account.
This incident coincides with the NBA’s partnership with SKIMS, the shapewear and clothing brand co-founded by Kim Kardashian, which began at the start of the 2023-24 season.
In the latest mock draft by Bleacher Report’s Jonathan Wasserman, McCain is projected to be selected by the Miami Heat with the No. 15 overall pick in the 2024 NBA draft.
Last season, McCain played for Duke, earning a spot on the ACC All-Freshman team with an average of 14.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, and a 41.4 percent shooting rate from three-point range in 36 starts for the Blue Devils.
