Women’s basketball is experiencing a significant surge in popularity, largely due to the extraordinary talent of Caitlin Clark from the Indiana Fever.
Clark’s impact on the sport has been likened to pouring jet fuel on an already growing fire, attracting thousands, if not millions, of new fans to women’s basketball.
This growth follows the contributions of other notable stars, such as the Miami Hurricanes’ Cavinder Twins, Haley and Hanna, who have also played a key role in elevating the sport’s profile.

In a recent appearance on “OutKick Hot Mic” with Chad Withrow and Jonathan Hutton, the Cavinder Twins discussed Caitlin Clark’s transformative effect on women’s basketball.
Their praise comes amid some criticism from fellow WNBA coaches and players who feel overshadowed by Clark’s rising popularity and seek recognition for their contributions to the sport’s growth.
The Cavinder Twins, however, took a different stance, emphasizing Clark’s role in increasing revenue and viewership, which is crucial for improving pay and opportunities for women athletes.
Haley Cavinder highlighted Clark’s uniqueness and the positive impact she has had:
“I think Caitlin Clark’s a once in a lifetime player. What she’s done for the game over the last year is insanely good for women’s basketball and just the viewership and the revenue. People are way more intrigued by it. You could tell by the March Madness, the viewership compared to the men. So I think what she’s done as a whole, everyone will miss her. I mean, she’s fun to watch. Everyone wants to watch her. … I think the game is growing, and I think it’s a good sport for the younger generation to look up and being able to just inspire them.”
As for their own careers, the Cavinder Twins continue to make headlines.
Hanna Cavinder is returning to Miami to pursue her fifth year of collegiate basketball, while Haley Cavinder, after taking a year-long hiatus, is also returning to college ball at Miami.
Their return to the court is eagerly anticipated by fans and will likely contribute further to the growing interest in women’s basketball.
Clark’s influence, combined with the Cavinders’ presence and the increasing visibility of women’s sports, promises a bright future for women’s basketball, both in terms of popularity and professional opportunities.
