Cleveland Guardians standout Jose Ramirez recently made a bold statement that caught everyone’s attention.
After being intentionally walked with the bases loaded during Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Angels, Ramirez confidently declared, “I’m better than Barry Bonds.” Cleveland.com’s Paul Hoynes reported the comment, noting that Ramirez made the remark in perfect English.
The walk that Ramirez drew eventually became the deciding factor in the Guardians’ narrow 5-4 victory over the Angels.
Ramirez has had an impressive start to the season, leading the MLB with 54 RBIs and hitting 15 home runs. Additionally, he has racked up 57 hits since the season began.

Now in his 12th season in the MLB, Ramirez continues to be one of the game’s most underappreciated superstars.
Over his career, he has accumulated 231 home runs, 800 RBIs, and 1,384 hits, maintaining a .278 batting average.
His performance is a key component of the Guardians’ strong early season performance, which sees them leading the AL Central with a 36-18 record, holding a two-and-a-half-game lead over the Kansas City Royals.
