For Cincinnati Reds pitcher Hunter Greene, summer’s sultry stretch has arrived a bit early this year.
Following a stellar performance where he pitched six innings, allowing just one run on five hits and a walk this Saturday, Greene marked the Reds’ 3-1 win against the Los Angeles Dodgers with a unique twist. He brought his puppy, Ross, to the postgame press conference.
When a reporter quipped, “Is he gonna answer the questions?” Greene responded playfully, “He might. I need to train him to talk.”
The atmosphere lightened further when Ross seemingly made his presence known in a more olfactory manner. “I think he farted. Can you smell it?” Greene joked with the reporters. “You can’t smell it? That’s good.”

As the session wrapped up, Greene was overheard praising his pet, “good job, Ross,” as they exited the media room at Great American Ball Park.
Greene introduced his French bulldog, calling him his “new best friend,” on social media just last Tuesday.
On the field, Ross’s owner is having a commendable 2024 season, holding a 2-2 record with a 3.22 ERA over 10 starts, which marks his third year in the majors.
