Angel Reese’s Chicago Sky is getting a rough welcome to the WNBA.
Alyssa Thomas, the Sun’s standout player who was runner-up in the 2023 WNBA MVP race, has been ejected for committing a severe foul against Reese.
The incident occurred during a struggle for a rebound in the third quarter. As Reese leapt to secure the ball, Thomas encircled Reese’s neck with her arm and pushed her back, while also positioning her leg behind Reese’s, effectively clotheslining her.

Reese fell heavily, landing on what appeared to be her head and shoulders, and remained down for a while before managing to sit on the Sky’s bench as the officials reviewed the play.
Following the review, the referees determined the foul was egregious enough to warrant Thomas’ ejection from the game.
Reese, visibly emotional, wiped away tears before she returned to the floor to shoot her free throws. Her resilience in returning to play after such a foul demonstrates her undeniable toughness.
