NFL fans are speculating that Taylor Swift, who is dating Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, may have subtly clapped back at Kelce’s teammate, Harrison Butker, on Instagram.
Butker recently went viral for his commencement speech at Benedictine College in Kansas, where he made controversial remarks about Pride Month, the transgender community, and women’s roles.
He stated,
“I think it is you, the women, who have had the most diabolic lies told to you. Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world, but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world. I can tell you that my beautiful wife Isabelle would be the first to say her life truly started when she started living her vocation as a wife and as a mother.”
In what fans interpreted as a response, Swift posted a message to her female fans on Instagram:
“This post is dedicated to the new Tortured Poets section of the Eras Tour (aka Female Rage The Musical!) and everyone who made these memories so magical. To my crew, fellow performers, and band who worked tirelessly in their break to concoct this surprise for you – but mostly for the fans in Paris. I’m so thankful that it was you we got to show this to for the first time because you gave us so much excitement, passion, and love. I’m SO fired up to play this for every crowd on the tour. See you very soon, Stockholm! ?”
Taylor Swift’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce, also commented on Butker’s speech, stating,
“I cherish him as a teammate. I think Pat [Mahomes] said it best where he is every bit of a great person and a great teammate. He’s treated family and family that I’ve introduced to him with nothing but respect and kindness. And that’s how he treats everyone. When it comes down to his views and what he said at [the] commencement speech, those are his. I can’t say I agree with the majority of it or just about any of it outside of just him loving his family and his kids. And I don’t think that I should judge him by his views, especially his religious views, of how to go about life, that’s just not who I am.”
