Chicago Sky rookies Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso captured the spotlight after they threw the first pitches at a Chicago Cubs game this Monday night.
Reese, an LSU standout and national champion, has been enjoying a stellar start to her professional career. Meanwhile, Cardoso is riding high from her recent championship win with South Carolina earlier in 2024.
Reese marked her professional debut with a victory over the Dallas Wings last Saturday, with the Sky not set to play again until this coming Thursday. She and her teammate Cardoso attended the Cubs’ game against the Atlanta Braves, where they both had the opportunity to throw the ceremonial first pitches.
Before taking the mound, the rookies posed with Cubs pitcher Shota Imanaga.

Cardoso led off with a pitch that veered just outside, followed by Reese who delivered an impressive throw.
The event highlighted the challenges of pitching from a baseball mound, showcasing the difficulty due to the distance — certainly no easy feat.
In WNBA news, Reese has experienced a mixed start with the Chicago Sky, losing their season opener to the Dallas Wings but securing a win in their rematch, moving their record to 1-1. In contrast, her collegiate rival Caitlin Clark is still seeking her first win after four games.
Cardoso, currently sidelined with a shoulder injury, is anticipated to make her WNBA debut on June 1st.
