Legendary NFL quarterback Tom Brady met with some of the league’s top 2024 rookies over the weekend, offering valuable advice drawn from his illustrious career.
Brady, who won seven Super Bowls, emphasized the importance of prioritizing the team over personal interests and cautioned against the distractions of social media.
“When you have 53 guys on the team, you think it’s about you. It ain’t about you. It’s about us,” Brady told the rookies. “And the biggest problem I see with a lot of the young players today, you guys are making it too much about I and me. Because of social media, because of branding and all that. It’s fine… you’re not going to win.”
Brady’s meeting with the top rookies was part of a summit hosted by Michael Rubin and Fanatics, with Jay-Z also in attendance.
During the event, Brady differentiated between being a star and being a champion, stressing the significance of commitment and hard work in every aspect of their careers.
He urged the rookies to take every practice, preseason game, and exhibition as seriously as the Super Bowl.
“Every day of practice is important. You know why? Because when I was on the Patriots, and we had 20 years of winning, every day was a big day. I treated a preseason game, I treated a regular-season game like it was a Super Bowl. So, when I got to the Super Bowl, it was just another day for me,” Brady explained.
Brady concluded by encouraging the rookies to set high standards for themselves.
“There should be nobody in your life that should have higher expectations for you than you,” he said.
This advice from one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history serves as a powerful reminder to the next generation of players about the values of teamwork, dedication, and personal accountability.
