Former LSU Tigers star Angel Reese had an up-and-down start to her WNBA career on Wednesday evening.
The Chicago Sky faced the Dallas Wings in the first game of their 2024 WNBA regular season. The Sky fell to the Wings, 87-79, starting the year with a loss.
Reese struggled in the first half, missing several free throws and field goal attempts, managing just one point and one rebound by halftime. However, she found her rhythm in the second half, finishing the game with 12 points on 5-of-13 shooting.
After the game, Reese had a straightforward message, admitting that nerves were not the issue.
“It wasn’t even nerves,” Reese said, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. “I was just missing. I still feel like I didn’t play my best game because I left six on the free-throw line.”

Reese wasn’t the only notable WNBA rookie to have a challenging debut. Caitlin Clark, the No. 1 overall pick in the WNBA Draft, had 10 turnovers in her first game with the Indiana Fever on Tuesday evening.
The 2024 WNBA regular season continues on Thursday night, with the Fever hosting the Liberty.
