After a college season filled with ups and downs, Bronny James is unlikely to be the lottery pick he was once projected to be in the 2024 NBA Draft.
A heart condition disrupted James’ preparation for his freshman season, preventing him from finding solid footing during his lone year at USC.
While some believed James would benefit from another year in college, it appears he is set on transitioning to the professional ranks in 2024.
With the NBA in mind, a source indicates that a Western Conference team is eyeing him for an early second-round pick. According to Yahoo Sports’ Krysten Peek, the Utah Jazz are interested in Bronny James and are considering bringing him in for an individual workout.
Peek reports that the Jazz could potentially select James with the 32nd overall pick, taking him off the draft board early in the second round.

The path to NBA stability or stardom is more challenging for a second-round pick, as they don’t receive guaranteed contracts. However, many players have found success after being selected there. Current three-time league MVP Nikola Jokic was taken in the second round, along with multi-time champions and Hall of Famers like Manu Ginobili, Dennis Rodman, and Draymond Green.
James has performed well at the NBA Combine this week in Chicago, potentially raising his stock as he competes against other prospects.
The road to the NBA won’t be easy for Bronny James, but at least one team believes he can add value to their roster and may be willing to take a chance on the son of an NBA legend.
